Before coming to Penn State, Daad worked for Georgia Southern University for 17 years in administrative positions including assistant director for financial aid, business manager of student accounts, and bursar. She is a member of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) program, helping income-eligible and elderly taxpayers electronically file their federal and state tax returns.

Daad holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and business management from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina, and an M.B.A. and a doctorate of education in curriculum studies from Georgia Southern University.

Daad is an advocate for adult learners and financial literacy education as the foundation for making informed financial decisions. She believes that acquiring financial literacy skills and knowledge helps to enact a positive change in all learners’ financial habits and behaviors. At Penn State, she focuses on helping students address financial literacy issues such as budgeting, credit, and student loans.

One of the things Daad enjoys most about working with students is that each student has a personal story to tell and she often learns as much from students as they learn from her. She also appreciates the family atmosphere of Penn State and the willingness of Penn Staters to go out of their way to help one another. She finds that even though Penn State is a big university, it has a small town feeling.

You can hear from Daad and learn more about budgeting at her upcoming webinar, Budgeting 101: Making Dollars with Sense. This webinar will take place on June 27 from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and will introduce the SMART Model for budgeting. Register today!
